Ultimate Mt. Fuji T-Shirt
With the outbreak of the COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC international travel and Japan sightseeing excursions have come to a halt. With few new tour bookings and oodles of time – we at My Tokyo Guide took this occasion to redesign our Mt. Fuji T-Shirt for the upcoming Mt. Fuji climbing season. We have been working on creating an ultimate Mt. Fuji T-Shirt for some time now and the added time has just strengthened our determination. Our purpose was to design a unique souvenir that not only represents the charms of Mt. Fuji and Japan but also to create a practical T-Shirt that can actually be worn while climbing Mt. Fuji.

We steered far away from the typical cotton-based Fuji T-shirts that you may find at most souvenir shops. After changing the material, design and color again, again and again we finally came up with a design and color that we felt best incorporates characteristic of the Mt. Fuji culture as well as a sensible material that real hikers could wear while hiking.

Curious Note:
RED FUJI or (AKA Fuji as it is called in Japanese) is a phenomenon that occurs when the peak of Mt. Fuji shines a bright red color during the summer sunrise or sunset. The RED FUJI wonder first became well-known when the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) created the woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji including RED FUJI (1832) named: “Fine Wind, Clear Morning” and the Great Wave off Kanagawa which are probably the two most recognized artworks of Japan and Mt. Fuji is a natural world heritage site when in fact Japan's highest and most celebrated peak is designated a “Cultural World Heritage” (On June 22, 2013) rather than a natural World Heritage due to its cultural significance – Mt. Fuji is often selected the theme of paintings, poems and literature - Mt. Fuji is also a spiritual source of worship and has been so for centuries. To read up more on Mt.
