Experience Mt. Fuji, Japan’s most famous symbol. Leave Tokyo for a drive alone the Chuo expressway aboard your own fully air-conditioned private mini-van to Mt. Fuji (3,776m or 12,388ft.) First stop, Mt. Fuji Visitor Center, learn about the rich history of Mt. Fuji, watch a video and explore the many Mt. Fuji souvenirs. Then drive up the Subaru snow line highway to the Mt. Fuji 5th Station located at an altitude of 2305m the highest accessible point by vehicle, enjoying the natural scenery en route. The 5th station is also the home to the Komitake Shrine, residence of Mt. Fuji's protective god, as well as a vast number of


souvenir shops and restaurants. After the 5th station take a rest and enjoy a traditional Japanese-style lunch while viewing the Mt. Fuji scenery from the Tomi No Sato Kokorogi restaurant in the famous Highland Resort Hotel & Spa. After lunch, we travel north of Mt. Fuji, to the village of Oshino-mura near Lake Yamanaka, Oshino is blessed with a pure rich natural environment, such as Oshino Hakkai (Eight Ponds of Oshino) known for their spring water. Mt. Fuji seen from this peaceful countryside is called 'Oshino Fuji' and is very popular.


From the Japanese garden 'Hikobe'e Yashiki' adjacent to the minshuku guest house 'Masu-no-Ie' you can view a splendid scenery of Mt. Fuji beyond the water mill. Next we travel to Lake Kawaguchi the most popular and beautiful of the five Fuji Lakes. Lake Kawaguchi is famous for it's crystal clear waters, it's most exquisite views of Mt. Fuji and it's perfect reflecting pool of the mountain's majesty. At Lake Kawaguchi we take a ropeway up Mt. Tenjinyama for a spectacular panoramic view of Mt. Fuji and the valley below. After enjoying the ropeway we continue across the lake to `Otome Fuji' Park ('Maiden Fuji') because of the gentle ridge lines. The best season to visit the Otome park is during the Lavender festival which is held every year from late June to mid-July. The crisp air, surrounding verdure and view of Mt. Fuji is amazing on a clear day.
